Edible cookie dough is all the rage. You can even buy it pre-made at the grocery store now! We tried it, and while it was pretty tasty, it was much more fun, cost efficient, and maybe even tastier to make it at home.
I got a craving for some the other night and when I found out my hubby had polished off the store bought, I was able to whip some up using all ingredients I already had at home. It is eggless which makes it perfectly safe to eat by the spoonfuls.
It was so delicious that I had to share the recipe with you for when you are having a Netflix and chill night, or even a girls’ night in – just stick some spoons in it and you’re good to go!
- 1/4 cup of room temperature butter
- 3/4 cup of light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup of milk
- 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla
- 1 cup of flour
- a pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
Cream together the butter and brown sugar. Add in the milk and vanilla extract and mix until combined. Add your flour in two parts, mixing well after each. Mix in the pinch of salt. Stir in the chocolate chips.
The dough at this point will have a pretty gooey consistency, which I actually prefer. I think that’s partly why I like this homemade recipe better than the store bought. However, if you refrigerate it, it will firm up. You can even store it in the freezer if you like!
You’re welcome! 😉
One more thing, this bowl I am using for the cookie dough is from a set I have from Anthropologie. You can get a set of 6 for only $36. They are so nice and deep – perfect for cereal and soup! You can get them here.
