Do you have a nook in your house or a small space that you’re not sure what to do with? Well, we have one of those spaces in our upstairs hallway and for years after we moved in I would say, “I’m going to make a reading nook there one day!” Once all our other projects were done in our home, I was able to work on that space and I really love how it turned out.
I started with seating. I personally wanted a tufted loveseat. Our exact one is no longer available, but this one is very similar.
Once I had the bench, I knew I wanted it to pop in that space so I painted the back wall in Farrow and Ball Black Blue paint. I had seen this paint color all over Pinterest and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this color!
After picking out the bench and wall color, I knew I wanted to add some color and I found this rug and knew immediately that it was perfect for what I wanted in our space.
I knew I needed a side table for lighting. I had a little red table that I was no longer using. I had it in a garage sale pile and then decided it was the perfect size for the space. I studied the rug and wall color and decided on a fun color for the table. So I painted it purple and I love how it turned out. However, if you’re not up for a DIY project, this table here is amazing!
I opted for simple white curtains and I loved the way the zig zag pillows I already owned looked on the bench. Those exact Nate Berkus pillows are no longer available, but these gorgeous Nate Berkus ones look fabulous with everything in the reading nook. I added a desk light, some accessories, and books to my table. Finally, I had a set of picture frames and I hung those on the wall and made a small photo gallery of Billy and me and both our parents on our wedding days.
This nook is now my absolute favorite area in our entire house. Even if I don’t get to sit down and enjoy it as much as I used to, I still enjoy looking at it while walking to our laundry room thirty-five times a day. Ha!
